DIORAMA
A diorama is an intentional illusory representation of a landscape or historical event quite popular in the pre-information era. Wax figures, for those who see them or take pictures with them, also create the illusion of closeness to celebrities, which is even more strengthened in photographs.
By taking pictures of dioramas, wax and other figures in museums and at amusement exhibits in St. Petersburg and Moscow I wanted to explore the illusory nature of photography, to see how these illusory objects look like when photographed and also how people react and look like when photographed with them. After all, isn't photography all about creating intentional or unintentional illusions?
